Maybe instead of 'genius intellect' simply make him a competently brilliant detective. intellectually gifted but not Batman levels of genius since real geniuses are good at on or two things, plus every human comic protagonist is a beast, its nice to have a hero who is peak in some ways but not in every thing and has flaws. if he met batman he would be understandably weirded out due to his EXTREME dedication to crime fighting, while Tim probably has to balance being a police detective and a vigilante and the stresses are present!
