Description

I want to thank the amazing :iconsoviet-superwoman: for writing Midnight Owl a story feature Soviet-Superwoman :D you should read till the end because I guarantee the story she gave me is absolute awesome :D
I only write the first paragraph, hope it doesn't bored you :P

"9:07 PM, a young girl name Ashley Smith jumped from roof of the Golden Club and killed herself. This is the fifth suicide in a week, all five of them had two things in common: they all jumped from the roof of the bar they were having a party at and they all used a new drug name: "Twilight Zone". Coincident? I think not" Midnight Owl said to Detective Jack August - his most trustworthy friend in the MCPD. Midnight Owl told August: "After "talking" to some drug dealers, I've gathered some informations and they all tell one thing the man who sold those "Twilight Zone" to them claim that he's from Angel Falls. This could be a fake information he give them or maybe it could be a trap but I have to go to Angel Falls to find out. Keep me inform with everything you know Detective August, I gave you my communications devices so you know how to contact me." "Of course I know how Midnight Owl I'm not that dumb" Jack said it with a smile on his face while seeing Midnight Owl enter his Wing Jet. And he soon arrived Angel Falls and go to an abandoned building, where he was told  he would meet the man who selling those "Twilight Zone" drug. But after run a full scan of the whole building with his Wing Jet, Midnight Owl only find three men on the roof and he jump off his Wing Jet and gliding toward those three men. He soon discovers that those three men have weapons with them so there is only one thing to do.
The first thug went down from the hard right connecting with his face. It spun him around, this already unconscious man, before dropping him hard on to the rooftop. The second thug was more seasoned, not a rank amateur. He rushed towards the Midnight Owl with a flashing blade, his strike quick and experienced. The copper-hued hero was better trained however and dodged out of the way, retaliating with a devastating left hook. The knife wielder staggered backwards, clutching his shattered, bleeding nose. It gave the third man the opportunity he had been waiting for. He leveled his .45 caliber handgun and it barked several times. The Owl moved to the left, the rounds punching holes through his cape rather than his body and weaved his way towards the man with the firearm. He thrust his leg out, connecting with the back of the knee of the knife wielder, dropping him to the roof as well as he moved forward. The man with the gun tried again to draw a bead, firing impotently twice more before the caped vigilante was upon him. The Midnight Owl took hold of his gun-hand and bent it backwards until he heard the bone snap while simultaneously thrusting his elbow into the man's face. The blow stunned the man, opening him up to an savage kick to the solar-plexus, throwing him backwards where he too crashed down onto the rooftop. The thug with the knife was the only one still trying to get to his feet. He was spitting up blood and muttering something killing him. The Owl put an end to his murderous rambling with another solid shot to the head. Timothy Wilson took a deep breath and looked around at the three men laying unconscious all around him, a deep sense of satisfaction filling him as he did. These three criminals were off the streets, probably for life when all was said and done. He removed several sets of handcuffs from his belt and began placing him on the men when he felt a rush of wind and heard the sound of boots crunching on the rooftop behind him.

"I was wondering who the first cape I would meet in this city would be. Good evening Comrade Superwoman." he spoke without stopping in his task or turning around.

The footsteps stopped a few feet away from him. "How did you..." a feminine voice with a heavy Russian accent spoke up.

"By the weight of the impact on the roof I deduced it had to be someone large, anywhere from 200-250 pounds. Whomever it was moved through the air quietly though, so they had to be fast and quite skilled aerially. The only other noise was rustling of a cape, something admittedly outside of present company, not many metahuman wear them anymore."

"I admit very clever. Now who are you?"

The man turned around to face her, standing up to his full height and drawing his cape in around him. His cape and cowl were dark brown, resembling an owl. The lens of his mask were polarized and bright yellow. He was almost her height with a very impressive, athletic build.

"I am the Midnight Owl."

Olga looked him up and down before her eyes moved over to the three beaten and unconscious men handcuffed nearby.

"And who are they?"

"Those?" he asked arching an eyebrow inside his cowl, "Those are scum. I tracked them here from Midnight City. I believe they are part of a larger crime syndicate operating here in Angel Falls."

The large Russian women crossed her powerful arms across the hammer & sickle emblazoned on her chest. "You are a vigilante then." It was not a question so much as a statement.

"As are you, I just can't fly or fire beams from my eyes. If I could perhaps this city wouldn't have the problems it keeps having with criminals."

"You would kill them?"

The Midnight Owl shook his head. "I don't kill. Those three men will live...they might have a lengthy stay in the hospital, eating their meals out of a straw for a few months, but they'll live to stand trial for their crimes. In the meantime I intend to track down their boss here in the city."

"This sounds more like a problem for the Guardians. This is not your city after all." The Soviet Superwoman replied.

"This started in my city. I intend to follow it through to the end. Are you going to try to stop me?"

The Owl took a few steps towards her. Olga was a little taken aback. Here was man with seemingly no metahuman powers at all and he was not even the slightest bit afraid of facing her down. There was no hesitation or fear in his voice, only confidence and purpose.

"Nyet, but perhaps I can help you. I know the city better than you as I have lived here for years."

"I prefer to work alone." The Owl replied. He paused and then spoke again. "But...you are right, you do know this city's criminal element first-hand whereas I have only read about it, studied it. If I have a question or concern I'll contact you."

"How will you know where to find me?" she asked, "Shine a hammer & sickle into the sky?"

The Owl actually chuckled and his mouth broke into a slight grin. "I'll find you, don't worry about that. I've studied all the heroes and heroines here in Angel Falls as well, in detail, just in case."

"In case of what?" Olga asked.

"In case any of you lose control. You attacked the Russia once so it isn't that far-fetched is it?"

The Soviet Superwoman turned away from the man and glanced out over the city, all lit up at night. She took a deep breath as the past was once again dredged up. "It was a mistake when I was new here and I thought I was doing the right thing. My patriotism was still high and I did not fully understand the politics and history of my new home. To me, it seemed like everything I had known was suddenly taken from me and I desperately wanted to save what I could. I..."

As she turned back toward the Owl she blinked and stopped what she was saying, looking from side to side. Midnight Owl was gone. Somehow in the brief moment that she had turned away he had made his escape. Now it was Olga's turn to chuckle slightly. Whoever this man was he was full of surprises and she felt certain it would not be the last time they would meet.

My favorite part of this was Midnight Owl walking forward several feet.
Most superheroes will stand their ground against even a vastly more powerful character if they have something at stake. There are also a fair number of lower powered or "unpowered" characters who will steel themselves and not flinch when someone they have no chance against physically (and more who are simply too stupid/insane to be scared) if only because it is not in their nature to back down - often out of sheer stubbornness.
Physically approaching somebody despite such a massive power gap is a distinctly different act though. If a person has to raise their hackles and try to look unintimidated, what they're saying in some ways is "I should be afraid but I'm not."
Owl's actions instead say "You should be afraid." For an intelligent, non-deranged character, that's quite a statement to make to somebody like SSW.
It's not flashy, but to me that is far more impressive than telling someone (even if they mean it) "If you mess with me you will regret it."
